Our small linen closet always seems to collect clutter. Between towels, sheets, and all the extra “stuff” that doesn’t quite have a home, it quickly started to feel overwhelming. With a new baby on the way, I wanted to maximize the space and make it more functional for our family. Instead of a big project or remodel, I decided on a quick linen closet reset that was simple, aesthetic, and economical.
Here’s how I organized our small linen closet in a few hours using a few simple storage solutions.

Reset the Space
The first step to organizing my small linen closet was to pull everything out of the space. As I pulled items out of the closet, I immediately put them into 3 categories:
- Keep
- Donate
- Trash
Categorize the Keep Pile
Next, I grouped everything in the keep pile to help me determine what type of organizing bins and how many I would need. Some of the categories I used below:
- Sheet sets
- Comforters
- Bathroom Towels
- Beach Towels
- Kitchen Towels
- Travel Essentials
Upgrade the Space
Now the fun part! After measuring the shelves and reviewing my categories, I ordered a few items that would make the space both aesthetic and fully functional.
- Faux wood shelf covers to hide the builder-grade wire shelves
- Storage bins and organizers for each item type
- Shelf dividers to help separate out all the different types and sized towels

Faux Wood Shelf Covers
I have standard builder-grade wire shelves and was able to get an exact fit. These shelf covers can also be easily trimmed if needed.

Sheet organizers
These sheet organizers fit up to a king size sheet set, and I was also able to easily fit a queen quilt set. They come in multi-packs and several color options.

Structured Storage Bin
I’ve tried unstructured and vacuum seal bags before for storage, but they tend to look sloppy. I prefer a simple structured bin with pull handles that keeps everything looking clean and easy to access.

Storage Boxes with Clear Window for Linens
These storage boxes come with lids so they stack easily. I use them on the top shelf that extends up toward our 12-foot ceilings for seasonal linens and backup bedding that we don’t need to access often. The clear windows make it easy to quickly see what’s inside without pulling every box down.

Clear Dividers
These clear shelf dividers help keep everything neatly separated by towel size so stacks stay organized and don’t topple over.
